PopGurls Overview

Offering offbeat and irreverent commentary and coverage of pop culture, PopGurls is a web magazine for anyone who likes a little bit of irony with their entertainment news.

PopGurls features celebrity interviews that are just left of center, eschewing "Who are your influences?" in favor of "If you were a reality TV show, what would be your purpose?" As fans, we realize that many interviews in the mainstream press offer only glimpses of our favorite celebs - often the same glimpses over and over again. So we ask the offbeat questions that manage to dig a little deeper.

Our site was born in Internet fandom. Our writers and editors participate in a variety of online communities, often culling story ideas from what we see there. Just like any fan, our interests wax and wane, and the content of the site reflects that. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

PopGurls is broken down into seven main areas: Interviews, Entertainment, Lust, Advice, Musings and The Attic. In Interviews, we talk to celebs of all stature, from television producers to online personalities. Television, music, movie, and book coverage can be found in Entertainment. Our pop culture crushes are on display in Lust. In Advice, we round up crafty do-it-yourself projects and also offer snarky advice on self-betterment. We're adding two new sections with the relaunch: Musings, showcases essays and our personal rants on a variety of topics; and The Attic: for everything we once were obsessed with and now can't bear to part with. You'll find all things *NSYNC and Degrassi in here.

PopGurls: The Site

Over the years we've been lucky enough to have some very talented folks support us in keeping the site running. Thanks go out to Kathy, for the original programming and design. Without her we'll still be floundering, trying to figure out how to make this thing run with the measly HTML we know; to Devon for coming up with a dreamy new design that beat our expectations; to incredibly fab Adrian of Algonquin Studios for gorgeous, clean and crisp HTML code; to Mike for some PHP magic; and finally, to Erim who helped us put it all together in the end and was never cross with us, no matter how bone-headed we were about things.
